It will most likely be a little quiet on this blog for the next couple of weeks as I’ll be in Japan. I am going to photograph a wedding and I’ve tacked a holiday on to the trip as well. Many years ago, I lived in Japan so I am really excited to going back and catching up with old friends. I have a fond connection with Japan and this trip is going to be extra special because I get to share all the things I love about Japan with my husband, Dave.

This photograph is of our very good friend Shiori, who we will be visiting in Kyoto.

I think it is fascinating to watch and photograph what couples do before their wedding ceremony. For the girls it is usually a cycle of planned activities, hair, makeup, putting on the dress, talking their parents through the emotions. But for the boys it is usually completely different…

I thought I’d blog Bill and Irene’s wedding story in Parts… so here is one part, not necessarily part one, but one part of a truly amazing day!
I was thrilled when Irene and Bill thought it was a good idea to do some location photographs at Abbotsford Convent. They were looking for something a bit different then the well utilised Parliament steps and wanted to avoid the chaos of the city. I love Abbotsford convent and can be often found in my free time having coffee at the bakery cafe, lunch at lentil as anything or browsing the design markets. It’s an absolutely stunning location with a great variety of photographic opportunities. All the photographs in this post were taken at Abbotsford convent.
More about Irene and Bill’s wedding soon….
Their engagment photography session can be seen here.

Last weekend I photographed Jovana and Davor’s engagement session at Queens Park in Moonee Ponds. Despite it being a very warm afternoon the wind was out in force. However, we managed to find some sheltered areas throughout the park and didn’t get blown away!
Jovana and Devor’s wedding will be in the Yarra Valley later on this year. It sounds like it’s going to be a lot of fun, with an importance placed on having a great party! I can’t wait to photograph their wedding.

Once a month I photograph
the Hive events at the order of Melbourne. Hive is a networking event for entrepreneurs. Each month they get entrepreneaurs to speak about what they’ve done and how they got there. It is really interesting to hear about sucessful entrepreneurs got to where they are today. The speakers are usually brutally honest about how hard they’ve worked, how much they’ve struggled and luckily how rewarding it all ends up being.
The most recent Hive event’s guest speakers were Tom and Fenn from Adioso. Adioso is a fully flexible and natural language flight tool. Basically, it is an awesome way to find and book flights online. I’ve personally used it numerous times and can’t stop raving about it…It just makes so much sense. You can type really vague searches such as Melbourne to Japan in October and it finds you all the discount flights for that route in October instead of having to search specifically for each airport in Japan or every date in October.
I actually first met Tom and Fenn about a year ago and they are just lovely down to earth guys who on a backpacking trip came up with an idea… So support adioso.com and keep an eye on their story as I am sure it will be the next big thing…

I’ve neglected this blog lately. I’ve been so busy here at Lizzy C HQ that I haven’t had time to share any of the great engagement-sessions, portraits and the kick off to the wedding season on this blog. I’ve just had a rejuvenating weekend in Sydney so I hope to post more regularly in the coming weeks.
For now here is a snap I took in Sydney over the weekend…
