I always enjoy photographing professional portraits as I get an insight into other professional industries. I am increasingly photographing many a medical specialist. Cardiologist, Luke Burchill specialises in working with young adults with heart conditions they have had since birth (‘congenital heart disease’) and leads research focused on congenital heart disease and Aboriginal health.
We asked Luke to tell us a bit more about what he does and his experience working with Lizzy C Photography.
Tell me about how you got into your field
I am of mixed Aboriginal-English heritage and studied medicine to make a difference to my community (Dja Dja Wurrung and Yorta Yorta nations of Victoria). I became interested in cardiology and found working with younger patients with heart conditions really interesting and inspiring. I know serve both communities in the work that I do and its very fulfilling.
What is the best piece of career advice you’ve received?
You cant just talk the talk, gotta walk the walk.
Why did you choose to have professional profile photos taken and what will you use your portraits for?
We live in a visual society and we’re all seeking to connect with one another. Like any other picture, a photo tells a thousand words. I provided conference organisers with a copy of my portrait so that they could feature me on their website as a plenary speaker.
Why did you choose to hire Lizzy C Photography?
I had heard great things – laid back and safe environment but super professional photographer with great pics. My friends were right!
Tell us about your experience working with her. Were you happy with the results of your shoot?
Despite feeling a bit nervous to begin with, Liz helped me to relax. Mostly it seemed like a conversation you might have with a mate. Before I knew it Liz had what she needed! Very happy with the end result, well worth the (small) investment.
