Relaxed Business Portraits

Wednesday, July 27th, 2011

One of the things I really enjoy doing is photographing small business clients and consultants. I work a lot with people who are the “face of their business” They realise the importance of having engaging photographs on their websites and marketing material. Often they aren’t all that eager to have their photograph taken but an hour spent with me in front of the camera intertwined with general chit chat about business, life or the weather and a good laugh usually makes people feel relaxed and at ease in front of the camera. The result is engaging, friendly and relaxed photographs which illustrate their personality and business ethos.

Recently, I photographed Jacquie Molloy. Jacquie is an expert in corporate communications. She works with organisations and individuals to support those who are about to move into a new role, those who are in their first year of a senior role, or those who aspire to lead.

It was a pleasure to photograph Jacquie, as she was very clear on what she would use the images for and the image she wanted to portray.

Jacquie also had these lovely things to say about our session:

Lizzy is my photographer of choice! I love the way Lizzy is open to what I want but always aware of what will look best. She manages that ‘line’ very well. Consequently I feel like I am in the best hands and the proof is in the quality of the photos. I also appreciate the extra effort Lizzy takes to make sure I have all the formats I need and is very helpful with meeting sometimes tight deadlines.

Writer extraordinaire | Business Portrait

Wednesday, November 3rd, 2010

I’ve been lucky enough to photograph a few writers and authors lately. They are always fun people to work with.  Clare was no exception!  Clare has a myriad of talents and is very easy going.  She was very clear on what she wanted and who her target market are, that is the type of clients who she appeals to.  Creatives and relaxed business people were a common theme.  We therefore kept this in mind for the colours we included, what she wore and the environment we photographed her in.

Paper Portraits

Friday, December 4th, 2009

I am a self-confessed stationery addict.  I’m not sure what it is about stationery, but I am sure it’s something you either love or don’t particularly care about.  I definitely love it.  I love to pick it up; I love using big loopy handwriting to write a letter, jot down thoughts or ideas or doodle kid-like illustrations.  When you meet people who’ve made stationary their business, I naturally think it’s a sign of good character.  Matt and Scott of Telegram are just that.  Genuinely lovely, they seem to always have me  in fits and giggles, possibly not because they are particularly “funny” but  they make you feel so relaxed and are so welcoming you can’t help but laugh and have a good time!

Telegram are importers/distributors of paper goods which they carefully hand pick from local and international designers (and even have a hand in designing some themselves).  When I photographed them recently, they were really excited about a beautiful world map they’d commissioned – project they were clearly passionate about. It is so inspiring to meet people who are passionate about what they do.
