Consultant Business Profile Portraits

Monday, March 25th, 2013

Bernd Schiffer, an IT coach, trainer, and consultant, wanted to freshen up the photos on his website and social media accounts. A newcomer to Melbourne via Germany, he found us through a Google search and he liked what he saw. He says he was immediately drawn to the relaxed but professional style of our photos, and he wanted the same thing for his own sites. He especially liked the environmental style portraits as he felt these people looked interesting to work with.

Bernd told us that his clients are really drawn to his passion for his work. “If I talk about my domain, I’m often so excited that you’d find my eyes glowing,” he said. “This is often infectious, so my customers get excited, too, and we have a very energetic relationship with good outcomes.”

My photo shoot with Bernd was straightforward and relaxed, and we had a lot of fun chatting about his work. Bernd, had a clear understanding of how important it was to have good quality photos of himself to represent himself professionally. I loved that he’d decided to take the photos first and then design the website style around them! It gave me a very open brief!

He had these nice words to say about us afterwards: “I am usually very nervous and uncomfortable in front of a camera, but with all the chatting, the photo shooting was over in no time and I wasn’t stressed at all. When I saw the results I was very happy, since they were much better than I expected. I got a lot of compliments from friends, business colleagues, and customers, which made me even more happy with the results.”

You can find out more about Bernd at berndschiffer.com and agiletrail.com.

MHaydon0912 0052 Business Profile Portraits: ConsultantClient Spotlight: Marion Haydon

We recently spent the afternoon photographing Marion Haydon, a Melbourne-based organisational and personal coach. She specialises in helping her clients reach their full potential by showing them the things that can inhibit growth. She takes an individual, holistic approach to each job, because she doesn’t believe in a “one size fits all” approach.

Marion’s currently rebuilding her business after a short break, and as part of her new marketing plan, she decided she needed some fresh portraits. She said she was attracted to us because she wanted professional-looking photos for her website that weren’t stuffy. She knew exactly what she wanted to get out of our photo shoot, and she was really eager to capture portraits that showed her personality. She was fun to work with because she’s so passionate about her clients.

“Lizzy helped me relax,” Marion said after the shoot. “I don’t enjoy having my photo taken, but her warm sense of humour and her energy really helped. I really like the photos and will use Lizzy again in the future when I need an update.”

So I am starting to think that my clients are crazy. I mean that in the nicest possible way of course! I mean I actually rate someone with a little bit of crazy quite highly. As we are all a little crazy, right?

But to get back on track, When Teagan came in for her photo session she told me she didn’t take a good photo. Nothing wrong with that, that is pretty much the first thing every client tells me before I take their photo!

Why do I think she’s a little crazy? Take a look at the photos below! I think they say it all.

In all seriousness though I think Teagan is absolutely lovely and was a pleasure to work with. I loved the sense of calm she brought with her that enveloped the studio and me. Teagan is extremely friendly and has a bubbly personality with a big broad genuine smile. I instantly noticed that she has a sense of calm in her life. For someone who doesn’t have any sort of calm in their life I recognise and envy this quality. I’m sure her connection with meditation and spirituality must have something to do with this.

I think these photos encapsulate her personality.  The feedback from Teagan was also positive!   To quote ” Thanks! Everyone went nuts over the photos. I am really pleased with them.” businessportraits Small Business Profile Portraits

Relaxed Consultant Portraits ~ Mary

Recently I had the pleasure of meeting, having a great chat with and photographing Mary from Career Sheila. Years ago, Mary had corporate portraits of herself taken but she realised she’d like to update them and wanted some images that reflected her personality and business rather than a stiff corporate head shot.

Mary Goldsmith is the consultant behind Career Sheila. Mary works with people at every career stage: young professionals on the move, women returning from parental leave, managers seeking advancement into a senior position, or individuals redirecting their careers altogether. Career Sheila provides consulting, coaching and mentoring for women who are motivated to explore, develop or change their career focus.

Mary has an extensive background Mary combines her extensive corporate and government experience in Human Resources, Executive Search and Selection, Executive Education and Career Transition consulting. I have no doubt she’d be well equipped to help anyone navigate through a career change.

Once a month I photograph the Hive events at the order of Melbourne. Hive is a networking event for entrepreneurs.  Each month they get entrepreneaurs to speak about what they’ve done and how they got there.  It is really interesting to hear about sucessful entrepreneurs got to where they are today.  The speakers are usually brutally honest about how hard they’ve worked, how much they’ve struggled and luckily how rewarding it all ends up being.

The most recent Hive event’s guest speakers were Tom and Fenn from Adioso. Adioso is a fully flexible and natural language flight tool.  Basically, it is an awesome way to find and book flights online.  I’ve personally used it numerous times and can’t stop raving about it…It just makes so much sense.  You can type really vague searches such as Melbourne to Japan in October and it finds you all the discount flights for that route in October instead of having to search specifically for each airport in Japan or every date in October.

I actually first met Tom and Fenn about a year ago and they are just lovely down to earth guys who on a backpacking trip came up with an idea…  So support adioso.com and keep an eye on their story as I am sure it will be the next big thing…

It’s all about Balance | Melbourne Commercial Photographer

Wednesday, July 15th, 2009

Recently I photographed Kate James from Total Balance.  Total Balance is a boutique coaching and training organisation, who offer face to face coaching in Melbourne and Sydney. Total balance works with a range of clients but Kate works predominately with creatives and people in the well being sector.  I can highly recommend her as I am one of her clients!  She is awesome, becasue she gets how creative people work and works with you towards making sucessful business decisions while keeping to your values and style.  I like that she gets that I am about scribbling on paper and not using excel spreadsheets!

Kate was looking for some new portrait photographs for her website and profile photographs for around the web.  She is often quoted in the media as an expert in her field so she needed images she could supply to publications etc. as well.  She is quite creative herself, which meant she had some great ideas.  It was great to collaborate and work with her to produce images which illustrated her style and personality.
