Rachael and Brad ~ Studley Park

Tuesday, March 15th, 2011

If you’ve got a keen eye, you may think you’ve seen Rachael on this blog before. She has in fact featured a couple of times alongside her sister Jess, as I photographed Jess and Chris’s wedding last year! She came along to their engagement session and was bridesmaid at their wedding. This time however, the spotlight is on her and her fiance Brad!

Brad proposed to Rachael atop the Sydney harbour bridge. He even concocted an elaborate surprise to get her up there! They are getting married in September at St Patrick’s Cathedral. I am really looking forward to photographing their wedding and catching up with the family once again!

Donna and Ross ~ An Ascot house wedding

Thursday, November 25th, 2010

Weddings are all about the moments. I never thought of myself as a “softy”, and most people who know me would probably laugh if I told them about the moments that make my heart flutter or the times I laugh aloud at a wedding.

But at every wedding I photograph, I find that this happens.

I smiled as I photographed Donna and her childhood friend reverting to childhood fits of laughter as they goofed around at Donna’s house. I couldn’t help but get a little sentimental as I captured Ross biting his lip in anticipation as he watched Donna walk down the aisle. Or could I help but absorb the fondness and happiness that came from the speeches from their nearest and dearest friends and family. The feeling of pride and happiness is obvious in the images I captured of the mother of the bride during her speech.

Thank you Donna and Ross for allowing me to capture such a beautiful day and opening a window into your lives.

Donna and Ross had a beautifully relaxed and intimate daytime wedding and reception at Ascot house. Deb Holder conducted a wonderfully unique ceremony in the gardens of Ascot house . The elaborate chocolate tasting which “endured” did not go unnoticed. We enjoyed our Koko Black bomboniere chocolates, thank you!

Engagement Portraits~Brighton Beach

Tuesday, February 23rd, 2010

Jess and Chris are getting married this Weekend! They both live in Dubai but Chris is from the UK and Jess is from Melbourne and they’ve chosen to have their wedding in Melbourne. Yea, for Melbourne! They both have a fondness for the beach so it made sense that we do their engagement session photographs there. They also mentioned they wanted Melbourne icons to feature heavily in their photographs because of their special decision to have their wedding in Melbourne.

Despite the crazy winds, we managed to get some great shots. Jess’s sister, Rachael also came along “just for laughs”, but got roped into a few shots as well!

I am looking forward to photographing what promises to be their super fun and relaxed wedding this weekend!

Exhibition Gardens e-session | Melbourne Wedding Photographer

Tuesday, December 15th, 2009

I think the best thing about summer, are the long days and the beautiful afternoon light.

Recently, we took advantage of a long summer evening and photographed Ian and Victoria’s e-session in the fading light of the afternoon at the exhibition gardens.  I really like the exhibition gardens, so much that we took some of my own wedding photographs there and I did a fashion shoot there about this time last year.  It might seem a bit cliche but there is a great variety of things to photograph.  I always completely avoid the stock wedding photographs such as the runway of trees leading up to the  exhibition building and go for abstract museum architecture, the charming and established trees or the beautiful grand doorways- as you who have worked with me, know how I love a doorway.

Ian and Victoria are lovely, and will be getting married at Ripponlea Estate next month. They refer to Ripponlea as part of their backyard as they live so close to it.  I think it will be great to take their wedding photos in a place they have such a fond connection too. They have also thought out carefully how to make sure their wedding guests are really catered for on their wedding day.  They even picked their wedding date so as it most considerate for people who need to travel to their wedding.

I am really looking forward to photographing their wedding next month!
