Charlie and Fiona’s Modern with a twist of traditional Lebanese Fenix Restaurant Wedding
I’ve never come across a more easy-going, relaxed couple than Charlie and Fiona. Even just moments before their wedding ceremony was due to start, Charlie waltzed up, all smiles and hugs, as the priest ushered him into the church.
Fiona arrived with the girls, looking stunning and adorned with a gorgeous lace veil, which was a family heirloom that had been in the family since the 19th century!
After the ceremony, we headed to the Fitzroy Gardens, where wandering through the dappled light of the spectacular avenue of trees seemed the perfect fit for their beautiful, relaxed attitude.
Fiona and Charlie arrived at Felix Restaurant with a spectacular entrance, which included a troop of traditional Lebanese drummers and dancers! The guests joined in, and Charlie and Fiona led them in a very fun and energetic performance.
It was a fitting start to an enjoyable evening, with a spectacular view over the river from Felix.

Meet Phillippa. Phillippa is a business owner. She approached us and this was her initial enquiry. I am looking for a gentle and creative photographer to take portraits of myself to be used for web and branding. I imagine the photographs to be warm and inviting, relaxed, comfortable and focused speaking directly to my tribe. I would like to work with someone who loves what they do and can easily guide and direct me through the process to create an image that “speaks me” and my business.
This is what we came up with…

I travel a lot. In fact, I spend more of winter overseas then in Australia, just to escape the cold! But one of the things I love most coming home to is multicultural Melbourne. Recently I was away in the US, and do you know what I craved? What I realised that I couldn’t do without? Thai food! And, funnily enough, you don’t get much good Thai food in Utah.
Getting to my point, when I first met with Hong and John I listened with fascination to the story of their backgrounds and families. Different stories, perhaps, but stories that had brought them together. Hong’s family is Vietnamese, but she was born in Hong Kong. John’s background is Chinese and Russian. They brought their cultures and families together on their special day by including many traditions; some Chinese, some Vietnamese and, of course, some Australian.
I feel privileged that in my home town of Melbourne I can be a part of a wedding between two lovely people that includes so much rich culture and diversity. That’s also what I love about weddings. They bring it all together: the people, the families and the culture.

Chantell and James – Engagement
I caught up with Chantell and James for an engagement session, and enjoyed some time getting to know them.
James wasn’t too keen on having his photo taken at first, but he was great and played along with the process, and as we got to know each other we were able to take some really great, nice relaxed shots!
We first went to Abbotsford Convent and had a lovely wander around, as it is a place that Chantell and James enjoy spending time at and have even considered getting married there.
They ended up deciding on Emu Bottom Homestead for their wedding, a spot that Chantell and James loved for its beautiful leafy, country garden atmosphere.
It was so lovely chatting with Chantell and James, and talking about their plans for their wedding. They’re such a relaxed couple, and although they’re enjoying simply taking wedding planning in their stride, they seem to have everything sorted for their big day!

‘Lots of fun’ and ‘a little bit quirky’ are the phrases that I’d use to describe Kerrie and Eric. We all had a fantastic day hanging out in the Yarra Valley. There were plenty of laughs and not an ounce of stress. Kerrie was a ball of energy, especially considering that she is carrying around a little plus one! She just radiated happiness; what an experience they’ll be able to tell their bub about! Yering Station put on a treat with a delicious array of food and wine, and a breathtaking view out over the Yarra Valley. The modern art scattered throughout the grounds was a playground for Eric, with his quirky and fun-loving attitude.

Pure happiness is an amazing emotion. One of my favourite things about photographing weddings is having the opportunity to capture that emotion on film. Sally was just an illustration of “pure happiness” on her wedding day. She was just so beautifully expressive and well Richard was pretty stoked too! There were no serious faces here, just so many laughs and such a good time had by all.
Richard and Sally were married at Janet Lady Clark Rotunda in the Royal Botanic Gardens and had their reception dinner at Ascot House. Below are a few of the laughs, moments and emotions I captured throughout Richard and Sally’s wedding day.

The details:
Bride’s Wedding dress and jewellery: L’Amore bridal boutique in Blackburn South.
Wedding Flowers: Australian native flowers made by Melinda Blythe from Wedding Flowers Ect
Ceremony decorations from Nicole McKnight and Delightful Occasions
Celebrant: Lynton Round
Groom: Suit from Peter Jacksons, Shirt was Boston Brothers from Myer
The bridesmaids dresses: Henry Roth
The best lady’s dress: Daniela’s
The girls hair and makeup: Magical Makeovers with Liz and Monique.

So I am starting to think that my clients are crazy. I mean that in the nicest possible way of course! I mean I actually rate someone with a little bit of crazy quite highly. As we are all a little crazy, right?
But to get back on track, When Teagan came in for her photo session she told me she didn’t take a good photo. Nothing wrong with that, that is pretty much the first thing every client tells me before I take their photo!
Why do I think she’s a little crazy? Take a look at the photos below! I think they say it all.
In all seriousness though I think Teagan is absolutely lovely and was a pleasure to work with. I loved the sense of calm she brought with her that enveloped the studio and me. Teagan is extremely friendly and has a bubbly personality with a big broad genuine smile. I instantly noticed that she has a sense of calm in her life. For someone who doesn’t have any sort of calm in their life I recognise and envy this quality. I’m sure her connection with meditation and spirituality must have something to do with this.
I think these photos encapsulate her personality. The feedback from Teagan was also positive! To quote ” Thanks! Everyone went nuts over the photos. I am really pleased with them.”

I met Lorissa ages ago. We kept running into each other at various business events. I always remembered her and recognised her in the crowd, as her bubbly personality and genuine interest in other people and what they had to say was always prevalent.
I was very happy to hear when she told me she was engaged to Mick. I was extemely flattered when they asked me to photograph their wedding and wanted to know my availability so that she could make their wedding arrangements around my availability!
Mick and Lorissa are having a lovely intimate wedding in Queens Park and a reception dinner in Essendon. It is very important to them to keep the wedding intimate and be about good food and great company. I am really looking forward to photographing their special day.

If you’ve got a keen eye, you may think you’ve seen Rachael on this blog before. She has in fact featured a couple of times alongside her sister Jess, as I photographed Jess and Chris’s wedding last year! She came along to their
engagement session and was bridesmaid at their
wedding. This time however, the spotlight is on her and her fiance Brad!
Brad proposed to Rachael atop the Sydney harbour bridge. He even concocted an elaborate surprise to get her up there! They are getting married in September at St Patrick’s Cathedral. I am really looking forward to photographing their wedding and catching up with the family once again!

One of the things I like about my job/chosen career path is that I meet people from all walks of life. I’ve photographed people in the community, politicians, celebrities, business leaders and even a
president. But the people I often look most forward to photographing and feel most inspired by are the entrepreneurs who are just doing their thing . I like hearing their stories. I appreciate how humble they can be.
Recently I met and photographed a feature in Latte Magazine for Emma Isaacs who is the entrepreneur behind Business Chicks. A successful entrepreneur in her own right, she likes to shine the spotlight on other successful women carving a path in their own chosen profession. The focus of the current issue is on Natalie Bloom from Bloom Cosmetics. Natalie has managed to build a very successful cosmetics company despite humble beginnings. And to top that, she is also one of the easiest, friendliest people to photograph and work with! Some people are just too awesome!
The images I shot for the magazine cover and feature are below…
And if you don’t mind, I might just toot my own trumpet a little, this is a testimonial Emma wrote about working with me on my linkedin profile:
“Lizzy does a great job of photographing those who’d rather be someplace else! We hired her for a shoot for the Business Chicks magazine, Latte and she was super professional and a delight to work with. Well done Lizzy and thanks so much.”

Chris and Dominik.
At first glance, it is obvious that they are happy, happy in each other’s company. Chris is Greek and Dominik is Polish and Croatian. They both love the beach.
What really made an impression on me was how much respect they had for each other and what they do. Chris is a barrister, and she wears a wig and gown to court. Dominik told me about how hard Chris has worked to get where she is. Dominik is a lawyer too, but Chris told me proudly about how he also makes documentary films.
You may have noticed, I may have gone on a bit of a tangent in my last blog post. Just a few random musings on the city I love: Melbourne. But when I met Chris and Dominik, it got me thinking. They made an impression on me.
For the people who know me, I have a roundabout way of thinking. I credit much to the city, but really it is the people I meet and the people I know who make it the place it is to me.
I feel like I meet so many people with interesting stories. As we say- everyone has a story.
I love meeting people. I love their stories. I love to listen. One of the things I love about photographing weddings is that sometimes people let me into their lives and I get the opportunity to tell their story- in pictures.

Today, I have another beautiful February wedding to post. Jess and Chris got married at St Carthage’s in Parkville, and had their wedding reception at Sails on the Bay in Elwood. We took some photographs at Melbourne University and on the beach around St Kilda and Brighton because of Jess and Chris’s fond affiliation with the beach. Jess and Chris were such a lovely couple to photograph. Everyone had so much fun! Chris’s parents came over from the UK, and quite a few of their friends came from Dubai. You would have had no idea that it was such an international group though, as everyone got on together like they were old friends! Jess’s dad who passed away a few years ago was honoured beautifully throughout the day and Chris’s dad was the best man! How cool is that! Jess and Chris have now gone home to Dubai.
