Royal Botanic Gardens and Soul Mama St Kilda Wedding

Monday, May 10th, 2010

Jess and Lewis were recently married at the Melbourne Royal Botanic Gardens. Jess was fantastically organised in a relaxed kind of way. It was great, everything ran perfectly! Jess and Lewis were an absolute pleasure to photograph and their bridal party were great fun too! We had a lovely time trooping through the gardens and then we ventured down to St Kilda for some shots near their reception venue, soul mama.  It was really stunning having the sunset over the beach and st kilda while  the guests had canapes and drinks on the roof terrace.

A Vintage Inspired Wedding ~ Fairfield Boathouse Wedding

Friday, April 23rd, 2010

When I first met Allison and Barney, it was instantly obvious how different their personalities were but how well they complimented each other. Their wedding day was a fantastic reflection of their personalities, connection to each other and to their guests, family and bridal party. Allison and Barney were married on the banks of the Fairfield boathouse which then flowed into their cocktail reception at the boathouse. As the sun set, Duck Musique did a fantastic job of entertaining the guests as they sipped cocktails or took the row boats out on the river. As the music floated out across the river and the guests moved around the boathouse, it actually felt like you’d stepped back into a Saturday afternoon in the 1920s.  Ally and Barney looked super swish, and Allison too looked like she had stepped out of the 1920’s.  When we first met, Ally mentioned her dress would be from Gwendolynne Burkin.  I often stop and admire Gwendolynne’s dresses as Gwendolynne’s store is right around the corner from my studio. Her dresses are amazing and often have a beautiful vintage influence.  Ally’s dress suited her perfectly and looked amazing!

Congratulations barney and Allison! It was a beautiful Wedding day that I was honoured to be a part of!

The Bride

Monday, November 23rd, 2009

Just thought I’d share this photograph of a bride I photographed at a recent wedding. It was taken just before the ceremony, on the top level of this beautiful private house they’d hired in the Yarra Valley. The estate is set on lush green gardens overlooking it’s own private lake.

Jovana and Davor hired the estate for their wedding so as they could have a truly relaxed ceremony and a great big party which could run as late and as loudly as they so desired!

More from this beautifully relaxed and personal wedding soon.

Before the Ceremony | Wedding Photographer Japan

Thursday, October 29th, 2009

Recently, I travelled to Japan and photographed Yoshie and Andy’s wedding. It was an amazing experience. Andy is Australian and met his beautiful bride Yoshie while working at a National Institute in Okazaki, Japan.   The whole day was carefully planned and really thoughtful. Yoshie and Andy had gone to great lengths to make sure everyone felt included and cared for so that the mixing of two cultures and language difference was seamless.

I am so excited to post the first of what will be a few blog posts from this beautiful Japanese wedding.  This blog post includes images of Yoshie and Andy before the ceremony. Yoshie was a picture of calm, and looked amazing in her kimono. She took my breath away.  Andy also took everything in his stride, as he calmly practiced the lengthy speech he was to deliver in Japanese during the ceremony.

I am a photographer based in Melbourne, Australia but I love to travel, and encourage you to consider me as your photographer where ever in the world you may be…

Melbourne Wedding Photography

From recent posts you might have seen some of Bill and Irene’s wedding photography. Bill and Irene’s wedding was a beautiful celebration full of music, laughter, family and Greek tradition. Irene and Bill are a super fun couple who are not necessarily the most conventional but their respect for one another and their culture is absolutely inspiring.

Yesterday I spent three hours with Bill and Irene finalising their wedding Album.  I love putting an Album together as this is where you really see the story unfold.

Below are a few pages…

On the day, we had a great team to work with, including Marcus and his assistant Joel from Couch media and my amazing assistant Ryo.  They were married  at the North Balwyn Greek Orthodox Church and had the reception at Leonda by the Yarra.

Marcus put this amazing highlight video together from the day.  I think it captures the feeling of the day beautifully.

So I am really looking forward to blogging the images from Andy and Yoshie’s wedding in Okazaki, Japan but I’ve just been busy with so many other bits and pieces I haven’t had the chance. So I thought I would post a little teaser, to begin with.

These images were taken when Andy first saw Yoshie in her Kimono when he snuck in for a look while she was being dressed. He was pretty awestruck… for obvious reasons! Andy and Yoshie arrived at the shrine together, and took part in a procession in their honour to enter the temple. It was very very cool.

More photos to follow soon….

Wedding Photography at Abbotsford convent

Wednesday, September 23rd, 2009

I thought I’d blog Bill and Irene’s wedding story in Parts… so here is one part, not necessarily part one, but one part of a truly amazing day!

I was thrilled when Irene and Bill thought it was a good idea to do some location photographs at Abbotsford Convent.  They were looking for something a bit different then the well utilised Parliament steps and wanted to avoid the chaos of the city.  I love Abbotsford convent and can be often found in my free time having coffee at the bakery cafe, lunch at lentil as anything or browsing the design markets.  It’s an absolutely stunning location with a great variety of photographic opportunities.  All the photographs in this post were taken at Abbotsford convent.

More about Irene and Bill’s wedding soon….

Their engagment photography session can be seen here.

Engagement photography session | Wedding Photographer Melbourne

Monday, September 14th, 2009

Last weekend I photographed Jovana and Davor’s engagement session at Queens Park in Moonee Ponds.  Despite it being a very warm afternoon the wind was out in force.  However, we managed to find some sheltered areas throughout the park and didn’t get blown away!

Jovana and Devor’s wedding will be in the Yarra Valley later on this year.  It sounds like it’s going to be a lot of fun, with an importance placed on having a great party! I can’t wait to photograph their wedding.

J & B’s Retro Inspired Wedding

Wednesday, April 8th, 2009

Despite the massive thunderstorm and potential flooding, in true Melbourne style the weather turned around completely for Ben and Jessamy’s wedding!

Talking of true Melbourne style, check out the bride and groom!

Melissa Jacob from the ceremony store conducted Ben and Jessamy’s relaxed and quite amusing ceremony at the St Kilda botanic gardens which was followed by croquet in the gardens.

Ben and Jessamy have fond connections with St Kilda and liked the idea of including the urban landscape in their wedding photos.  So we wandered from the ceremony to the reception and snapped some great shots on the way.  Ben even became a part of the city landscape when a pigeon resting on an eve above decided to drop his business on Ben’s shirt!  Ben and Jessamy weren’t phased at all, we had a good laugh and continued on! See photo of Jessamy tenderly wiping off said poop from Ben…

Ben and Jessamy I wish you all the best of luck (not that you’ll need it, thanks to that pigeon!)

A & C’s Elegant Ripponlea Wedding | Wedding Photographer Melbourne

Monday, March 16th, 2009

Anna and Clint were married at St Peter and Paul Church last Saturday.  It was a beautiful wedding followed by an elegant and classic reception at Ripponlea Estate.

A clear message that came through in the ceremony and the speeches was the importance of family and friends to Anna and Clint. It is easy to see why.. I’ve never felt so welcomed and made to feel comfortable before!  The wedding guests and their families were so friendly and so open it was fantastic!

A big congratulations, guys! I wish you all the best and thank you for having me be a part of such a beautiful and special day!
