J & B’s Retro Inspired Wedding

Wednesday, April 8th, 2009

Despite the massive thunderstorm and potential flooding, in true Melbourne style the weather turned around completely for Ben and Jessamy’s wedding!

Talking of true Melbourne style, check out the bride and groom!

Melissa Jacob from the ceremony store conducted Ben and Jessamy’s relaxed and quite amusing ceremony at the St Kilda botanic gardens which was followed by croquet in the gardens.

Ben and Jessamy have fond connections with St Kilda and liked the idea of including the urban landscape in their wedding photos.  So we wandered from the ceremony to the reception and snapped some great shots on the way.  Ben even became a part of the city landscape when a pigeon resting on an eve above decided to drop his business on Ben’s shirt!  Ben and Jessamy weren’t phased at all, we had a good laugh and continued on! See photo of Jessamy tenderly wiping off said poop from Ben…

Ben and Jessamy I wish you all the best of luck (not that you’ll need it, thanks to that pigeon!)

A & C’s Elegant Ripponlea Wedding | Wedding Photographer Melbourne

Monday, March 16th, 2009

Anna and Clint were married at St Peter and Paul Church last Saturday.  It was a beautiful wedding followed by an elegant and classic reception at Ripponlea Estate.

A clear message that came through in the ceremony and the speeches was the importance of family and friends to Anna and Clint. It is easy to see why.. I’ve never felt so welcomed and made to feel comfortable before!  The wedding guests and their families were so friendly and so open it was fantastic!

A big congratulations, guys! I wish you all the best and thank you for having me be a part of such a beautiful and special day!

It’s all about the light… | Melbourne Wedding Photographer

Wednesday, November 12th, 2008

While looking up some information on sunset times for a photo shoot of a series of buildings I am doing, I thought…this is valuable information I should share with my wedding clients.

Lighting is an extemely important factor to photography. Some which we can control (flash etc), some which we can’t (the sun).  It is very important that when you plan your wedding, that you utilise the best light for your photographs.  You do not want to be doing your photo session in the dark, because using only flash, is very unflattering.

The best time to take photographs is generally the couple of hours leading up to sunset and about half hour affter.  If you book Lizzy C Photography I am of course here to advise you on how to best utilise the available light.  We can also arrange the locations so as to use the best light available at the time at each location.  This is something we can experiment with during your included e-session, prior to the wedding.

This is a good starting guide which indicates sunset/sunrise times at different times of the year.

My wedding (1.11.08)

Friday, November 7th, 2008

So if you are wondering why I haven’t made a post lately… it’s because last weekend I got married!!

My beautiful clients have been asking to see photos, and have sent lovely messages of congratulations so I thought I better deliver!

The wedding was all about the jazz age and many of the guests, could have steped right out of the 1920s!  We had a fantastic day, we got married here in Melbourne but guests came from all over including Hong Kong, Malaysia and Japan and of course many from Queensland.

Ben from Sunlit video productions is putting together a video for us, my fantastic friend Rebecca took the photos, and Melissa from the Ceremony store married us, just the way we wanted!

My mother dried thousands of rose petals and put together my bouquet, Rebecca and Jodie helped me make all the bits and pieces which made our wedding really personal and illustrate our creative flair and Robyn made us the best chocolate cake I’ve ever eaten! Thanks everyone for making our wedding what it was!
