Meet Ian.

We love working closely with our clients and learning more about what they do.

Recently, we photographed Ian a chartered mechanical engineer and recently appointed Managing Director of G&G Mining Fabrication – an excavator bucket and heavy engineering business in Perth. We asked him to tell us more about what he does and his experience working with Lizzy C.

Tell me about how you got into your field.

I studied Mechanical Engineering at University after becoming interested in Engineering through playing with Lego when I was young and then Mountain Bikes as I got older! I worked in Service Engineering and Engineering Design roles for a few years in the UK, and then had the opportunity to move to Australia with that company in a Field Service Engineering role in 2007. This led me to time living in Mackay, Perth and eventually Melbourne – mostly supporting Mining and Heavy Transport sectors. 3 years ago I looked for a change, and moved to SSAB, a Swedish Steel producer, in an interesting Technical and Business Development role looking after “Wear” applications (generally Mining, Quarrying, Recycling, Construction, and Agriculture), and our manufacturing partners – the “Hardox Wearparts” network across Australia, New Zealand and Indonesia. That has eventually led to my new role taking over the management of a business SSAB acquired during this period – and a relocation back to Perth after 5 years in Melbourne.

Tell me a bit about what you do.

I am just stepping into the role, but the business is specialized in large welded structures – and in particular large mining excavator buckets. This is of interest to SSAB who are specialists in the production of wear resistant and high strength steels. As such am tasked with leading the business through a transition to the use of higher grade materials, developing new and innovative Engineered solutions to support a range of industries, as well as navigating the current difficult market conditions in mining and for Australian manufacturing.

Why did you choose to hire Lizzy C Photography?

I chose Lizzy C after finding her online. I was looking for some new images as the ones I had were quite dated, and I liked the casual and relaxed look of the shoots that I saw. I wanted some shots that conveyed a relaxed demeanor whilst also looking professional but not stuffy.

Tell us about your experience working with her. Were you happy with the results of your shoot?

It was great! I was made to feel very relaxed, and we had plenty of time to try different types of shots and in various different outfits / looks that can then be used in different situations.
