What do you do? Tell us a bit about your work.
I’m an occupational therapist working with older adults in the community. My goal is to help older clients live more independently and achieve their personal goals. This often involves prescribing equipment, supporting families through education, completing cognitive assessments, and developing practical strategies to manage cognitive challenges at home.
How Did You Get Into Occupational Therapy?
I first discovered occupational therapy during a Year 12 seminar where Michelle Newland from the Summer Foundation shared her story about recovering from a brain injury. Hearing how her occupational therapist profoundly impacted her recovery and happiness inspired me to pursue this career. I switched my university preferences from psychology to OT that same day — and I’ve never looked back.
Best Career Advice You’ve Received
The best advice I’ve ever been given is to stay curious and never stop learning. I carry that mindset into every client interaction and use it to continually improve my skills and knowledge as a therapist.
