Professional Headshots for obstetrician and gynaecologist Rachel

Professional Headshot of a obstetrician in Melbourne

I photograph a lot of medical professionals these days and am becoming known as a specialist  amongst many doctors as word of mouth has grown.

These days all doctors and health professionals need to have an online presence, particularly those in private practice. A good web presence including social media profiles enhances your communication with new and existing patients as well as other health professionals.

My clients realise how important to create a personable connection with their patients and the most effective way to do this is through great photography.

I had a chat with obstetrician and gynaecologist, Rachel about her work and her experience of a Lizzy C Photography portrait session. Rachel came to me for new headshots as she was looking for natural and personable images which would make her patients feel comfortable to book an appointment.

Tell me a little bit about what you do.

I’m an obstetrician and gynaecologist. I look after women preparing to become pregnant, throughout their pregnancies, during their deliveries and in the postnatal period. I also look after women with gynaecological issues including troublesome periods, abnormal cervical screening tests, contraception, ovarian cysts and menopausal symptoms.

I love that I can be involved with patients throughout their lifespan, helping them at different stages in their lives.

Tell me about how you got into your field.

I have loved obstetrics and gynaecology from the time I was a medical student. It’s a blend of medicine and surgery and encompasses areas I find inherently fascinating such as hormones and genetics. It allows me to be a part of some really significant times in peoples lives which is an incredible privilege. I worked in a few different areas of medicine as a junior doctor, all of which provided experience which has been invaluable but, for me, nothing could compete with O&G as a career choice.

What is the best piece of career advice you’ve received?

Don’t be afraid to ask for help.

Why did you choose to have professional profile photos taken and what will you use your portraits for?

I have been using a headshot on my website (and when asked to provide one for conference brochures or a hospital websites etc) that was more than a decade old. With each passing year it has become less and less recognisable and was beginning to feel like false advertising! I had been putting off getting another photo taken as I usually find that sort of thing a bit confronting.

I need not have worried – Lizzy and Amelia (make up) made the experience easy and enjoyable.

Why did you choose to hire Lizzy C Photography?

I googled ‘headshots’ and found my way to the Lizzy C Photography website. I was immediately impressed with the website itself, the examples of Liz’s recent work and her ‘about me’ page.

She offered ‘relaxed, natural professional portraits’ which was exactly what I was looking for.

Tell us about your experience working with her. Were you happy with the results of your shoot?

The afternoon was really enjoyable. Lizzy and Amelia (hair and makeup) made me feel comfortable from the outset. Lizzy maintained a relaxed atmosphere and keep me engaged and entertained through the shoot – she’s warm and funny and I was relaxed throughout.

The results, as promised, are “me on my best day” and I couldn’t be happier.
